Callie me Bananas (for SXSW day parties)
Just so you know... Here's what I plan on doing during the days for SXSW. I start on Thurs. cuz Weds I am working.
Thurs:
Noonish - Factory people. DJ sets from Voxtrot, Soundteam etc... What really got me here was "complimentary cocktails and beer" and makeovers. Factory People was recently called "more of a lifestyle destination than a boutique". What the hell does that even mean? If it sucks Birds Barbershop is also having a party that starts at 1:00 p.m. with free booze and breakfast tacos (genius!).
Noon - 6 - Habana Calle. Daniel Johnston, The Frames, Alpha Rev, Small Sins. Kind of a massive, worthy line-up. It's hosted by Sound Check, so I'm looking forward to meeting the new editor and seeing some friendly faces.
One to 5:30 - Bourbon Rocks. A super solid line-up with The Walkmen, Great Lakes Society, and Okerville River. For Quack Media and FOUND magazine (which I love). Ya gotta RSVP.
Friday:
11 - 8 p.m. - Mohawk. Hot Blogger Freaks party. $3 is worth it to see Apostle of Hustle and Catfish Haven.
Noon - 10 p.m. - Freddie's. Good God, the line-up is like I've died and gone to indie pop heaven. Appollo Sunshine, Bryan Scarry, Oliver Future, Oppenheimer, Oneside. And ummmm, free(ish) drinks. RSVP at Do512.com.
Noon - 10 p.m. - Belmont I think I'm on the RSVP list? I don't know, you had to send a text to 33992 and join Wired's mobile network, which I don't know if I want to do. The line-up is o.k. Tilly and the Wall, the Gray Kid, I Love You but I've Chosen Darkness....
Noon - 6 p.m. - Red 7. Mess with Texas Party. I kinda wanna check this first because I know it's going to be the most crowded. It's Free, free, free and Les Savy Fav, Erase Errata, Black Angels, the Gossip. Plus all those hipster comedians. And a scavenger hunt? Sounds crazy fun.
UPDATED:
2 - 7 p.m. - Emo's Annex - Woxy.com, my new favorite thing, hosting pretty decent partay. Way things are going, I may burn myself out on pop music though... Still, I love me some Aquaduct and the beer is free.
Sat:
Hmmm. In general, not a lot different from Friday's parties. Seriously, most of these are like Day 2 parties.
So, the repition is intentional
11 a.m. - Yard Dog Art. I can only hope that David and the Citizens are playing sometime early in the day. Please, oh please, oh please...

noon - 4 p.m. - Stubb's. Rakim and Ghostface. need I say more?
Sun:
I imagine I will be fast asleep all day.
Also, for anyone who reads this and is planning on hitting any of the day party scene, I believe I'm entitled to park at the downtown Hilton for $5 $8 a day, which then gets reimbursed to me. So if anyone wants to carpool, let me know.
UPDATE: O.K. fine, Ian. You and the evil trolls at Pitchfork may possibly woo me with the Pipettes. Possibly...
Comments
I don't understand why you would want to leave such a mean comment, as you did.
You must be afflicted with the G.D.-Syndrome or something. Are you, or have you ever been a member of the G.D. Party?
After all the nice things I do for you. Don't you know I'm having like a 1/4-life crisis right now???????? That's what my novel is about, I don't need any encouragement from the likes of you.
